eDoctor fore-runs firstaider evaluation at MEDICAL-it 2014

"He stands erect by bending over the fallen. He rises by lifting others....." characteristics of a first aid giver is honored in one of the famous quotes by Robert Green Ingersoll, a civil war veteran and a popular lawyer from 19th century, America. Since then the first aid delivery has never been well trained compared to present day, as it is well observed and followed from the school going age.
Among them the Ananda college saukyadana movement is a strong force, acting to sustain the quality of first aid care delivered at any instance. The same movement hosted a thrilling emergency care competition called "MEDICAL-it" parallel to their annual first aid day commemoration "AROGYA-2014" which is due on 28th February, 2013.
"The Top Brass"

Teams of the participant schools were put through a thorough assessment on Basic first aid organized by a group of doctors representing the www.edoctor.lk web site as  well as Miss Pushpa Ramyani Zoysa, Nursing officer and the National coordinator in Emergency care training.

It was noted that eDoctor team had thrown all sorts of potential emergencies which can be encountered on a daily basis to the competitors, mimicking reality. Blood oozing wounds, Fractures of the leg, choking attacks were role played. The randomly assigned case scenarios were given to the competing teams to manage, while they were observed and marked for accuracy, efficiency and use of common sense.

A written  and a practical assessment of the knowledge on Basic Life support among the competitors was conducted by the team lead by Miss Pushpa Ramyani Zoysa on the same day.

First-aiders in action....Emergency care given for the wounded was assessed  by the eDoctor team.

Moreover, eDoctor team went on to judge the presentations delivered by the competing team on "Examination mentality" and the "My First aid Unit". Very attractive and informative presentations were delivered using multimedia.

At the end of the day, though tiresome, it was a worthwhile effort by all the health care professionals involved to at "MEDICAL-it", to brush and polish up the youngsters who are keen on First aid. No doubt the sweat poured today will eventually build up a background for the "young first aid givers" to "rise up" by uplifting the injured.
